Birthday Reflections of My Son

I enjoy talking about all my kids. Today is Jon's , my middle child, birthday. The big 28. Hard to believe.
When Jon was a baby, people would stop me and just stare at him. He had the biggest blue (from my mom) eyes and the little john-john haircut (named after John F. Kennedy's little boy's hair) and it was whitish blond and so silky. He took in everything when we went out. He always looked like he was in awe of it all. He was very striking for a little one. Today he is a man that I can say from my heart that I am very proud of. He is awesome at his job, he loves and respects his wife and their marriage, he is a hard worker, loves his family, loves his friends, loves his nephew, and really is a great role model and mentor for others.

His love of sports and the game of football led him to a coaching opportunity this year. I went to one of the games and to be quite honest, I didn't watch the game at all. I was so impressed at how he coached those high school kids, it was crazy. He brought out the best in them each time he interacted with them. You could see the kids' trust and respect for Jon.

So, I am grateful that I was able to spend some time with him today. Just one on one time to talk, laugh, and share. I started the day off with breakfast with Jon and his lovely wife, Elena. I must say, for still being sick, sharing today with Jon helped a bit.
I love him. I am proud of him and I know that life will treat him well because of him striving to be the best man he can be.

Happy Birthday, my son!
